The First Step to Having a Healthier, Slimmer Body

Trying to become healthier and slimmer is not always easy. At times we eat foods that are not as nutritious as others. At times we don’t exercise as much as we should. Because of these discrepancies in our overall goal to be healthy, at times losing a few pounds tends to take more effort than we are willing to give. Consistency is one of the keys to obtaining and retaining a healthier, slimmer body.

As an experienced physical therapist and health coach, Tanya Langis has set up six key steps to help you achieve the healthy body you want. The first step you will take on your individual journey to a healthier, slimmer you is to discover yourself. Evaluate your own body, weight and health habits and make a point to know where you are now, in comparison as where you would like to be in the future.

Now as you explore and evaluate your own overall health, there are four main areas you should focus on to achieve a healthier, slimmer you.

1.                   Your mindset. Write down goals you want to achieve. How do you envision yourself one year, three years, and even five years from today? What mindset do you want? Healthy emotions and thoughts such as faith, love, hope, courage, and determination will help you achieve your goals.  Are you angry, afraid, jealous, or unforgiving of anyone? These detrimental emotions and thoughts can rob you of your overall health. Stay focused and determined throughout your health journey.

2.                   Your nutrition and diet. What are your current dieting habits and what can you do to make them healthier? Be honest with yourself. Now, how are you going to change your nutritional habits to achieve better health?

3.                   Your physical fitness and physical health. What are you doing currently to be physically fit? What should you be doing activity-wise to maintain health and wellness physically? Do you have an exercise partner to keep you progressing physically? What aspects of your physical health (examples: weight, cholesterol, blood pressure) needs improvement and what will you commit to improve your physical health?

4.                   Your lifestyle. Everything that you do affects your health and wellness. Evaluate your lifestyle to determine what you are doing right and what aspects need to change to achieve a healthier you. For example, are you getting enough sleep?

Aristotle said, “Knowing yourself is the beginning to all wisdom.” Maybe it’s time to take inventory of your life – where you’re at and where you would like to be.

Your mind is very powerful. If you learn how to set your mind into success mode, there is nothing you cannot achieve. Tanya Langis can give you the tools you need, motivating and supporting you to keep going until you reach your growth-oriented goal of a healthier, slimmer body.
